BAMMA BadBeat 5 Full Fight Card and Predictions

BAMMA USA BadBeat 5 is almsot here, in 3 days we will see the return of UFC vet Joker Guymon to the cage, and his debut at 155! Also on the show is WEC/UFC Vet and TUF contestant Gabe Ruediger along with BAMMA’s usual list of solid fighters who always come to put on exciting fights. If you are anywhere near the Commerce Casino, I suggest checking out this event. This will be the 4th BAMMA USA event we’ve covered, and all of them have been fantastic. The fights, the venue, the mood, the service and the fans all rock. We’ve covered a ton of events since this site started last year, and you’ve only seen the ones that were good, the not so good we didn’t post (except for Invincible, we had technical difficulties with that event’s footage, sadly). We always look forward to BAMMA events, always, and this one even more than usual. I expect Joker to put on one hell of a show.

Below is the full fight card (barring any injuries or issues) for Friday’s event. As usual, my picks are in Green, Ranters, make your picks in the comments section. Enjoy and we will see you there.

Main Card:

Mike “Joker” Guymon (12-5-1) vs. Cris “The Lightning” Leyva (10-3-0)

I’ll admit, I’m biased here. Joker is one of the coolest guys I’ve met in MMA. He’s one of ‘the realest’ person you will meet, he’s so completely honest about himself and life that it’s almost uncomfortable, almost, it’s that honesty that makes him a fan favorite. His opponent Cris Leyva is no push over, although he’s coming off 2 straight losses, I expect him to give Joker a tough time. However, Joker’s experience will play a big factor, which is why I’m going with Joker by decision.

Gabe “Godzilla” Ruediger (17-7-0) vs. Scott “K.O.” Catlin (4-6-0)

Gabe Ruediger is well known to hardcore fans of MMA, he’s a veteran of several promotions, Scott Catlin has a notable win over TUF Winner Tony Ferguson and he’s coming off a Unanimous Decision win over Ty Freeman in Nov. Gabe is known for his ground game and I expect him to finish this one fast by submission. Gabe Ruediger by submission Round 2

Chad “The Savage” George (13-6-0) vs. Shad Smith (12-14-2)
Chad George had a good run in the WEC with losses to standouts Antonio Banuelos and Scott Jorgensen, Shad Smith has spent time in KOTC winning his last fight by sub over Del Hawkins. Bother fighters are pretty evenly matched, so I’m giving the edge to Chad George due to his momentum coming off a KO win in Dec. Chad George by TKO/KO.

Heavyweight – Josh Bennett (12-13-0) vs. Mychal “Bolo” Clark (8-12-0)
Josh Bennet is riding a 4 fight losing streak while Mychal Clark is 7 fight losing streak, however Mychal has been through the lions den facing Lorenz Larkin, Daniel Puder, Travis Browne, Ryan Jimmo and Bristol Marunde…that is some tough matchmaking. He does hold a win over Josh. Josh hasn’t faced quite the same level of competition which I think gives Bolo the edge. I’m going with the guy who’s nickname is the same as one of my favorite Kung Fu stars. Mychal ‘Bolo’ Clark by decision.

Bantamweight – Jose Morales (4-6-0) vs. “The Real Deal” Chris Beal (4-0-0)
Chris Beal is a beast, he’s put on some great wars in BAMMA and CAFS. Jose Morales is a scrapper, I’ve seen him put on exciting fights in BAMMA and RITC, this is another Fight of The Night candidate. I expect Chris to be tested more than his previous fights. I gotta go with the favorite, Chris Beal by decision.

Preliminary Card:

Joe “The Technician” Condon (7-3-0) vs. Ismael “The Officer” Gonzalez (6-8-2)
This could be Fight of The Night, Ismael is a scrapper and both fighters are riding a 2 fight win streak. Ismael once went to decision with Woachim Spiritwolf, that’s an accomplishment in it’s own right. I’m giving Joe Condon the edge in this one, but mot my much. Joe Condon by tough decision.

Bobby “The Kid” Sanchez (12-18-1) vs. Jason Carbajal (3-1-0)
Jose Carbajal.
I saw his win at BadBeat 4 and was impressed. Think he has submission edge on Bobby Sanchez.

Eric Brown (1-2-0) vs. Brandon Anderson (3-5-0)
Eric Brown.
The record I found for him was 6-9-0. More experience.

Leo Franklin (2-2-0) vs. Eric Winston (2-0-0)
Eric Winston.
Cause I said.

Chris Costello (1-1-0) vs. Gil Guardado (0-0-0)
Gil Guardado.
2 G’s beat 2 C’s every time.

Javier Montoya (0-2-0) vs. Tony Stewart (0-0-0)
Tony Stewart.
Cause he’s got the same name as the NASCAR Driver.

That’s It!
