Guymon hasn’t competed since last year, is coming out of retirement and dropping to a lower weight class to face off against Levya. The veteran of the sport claims his old “joker” style of fighting will return once he steps inside the cage and Leyva should be prepared.

“I’ll let my fighting do the talking but it will be that old me out there,” said Guymon in a recent interview. “I’ll just look across, handle business and do it quite tenaciously. I know how strong I am. I know where my cardio is. My body has adjusted well to this drop in weight, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Leyva has won eight of his last ten fights stringing together an eight fight win streak including five technical knockout victories. He lost his last fight against current UFC lightweight Tim Means and is looking to get back on the winning track against Guymon.

Featured in the co-main event of the Badbeat 5 fight card is another UFC veteran, Gabe “Godzilla” Ruediger, who will go to war with Scott “KO” Catlin in a lightweight duel.

Ruediger was originally scheduled to appear in the Badbeat 4 main event fight however his opponent was injured the day of the weigh-ins and was unable to compete. Now, Ruediger will get his chance to fight in front of his hometown and redeem himself from his previous losses.

Catlin is no stranger to tough opponents. In 2008, the Chula Vista resident handed The Ultimate Fighter season 13 winner Tony Ferguson his first ever loss in Ferguson’s professional debut. Scott is coming off a victory in his last fight and is looking to add another name in his win column on March 16.

Former WEC bantamweight Chad “Savage” George will grace the Badbeat stage when he returns to fight a game opponent in Shad Smith.

George is coming off back-to-back victories finishing both of his opponents and not letting his fights get into the hands of the judges. In his BAMMA USA debut, Chad secured a fight ending arm-triangle choke forcing his opponent to submit in the first round. He then flew to represent the USA and made quick use of his foe, knocking him out in two minutes in the first round.

Shad Smith has been in the deep water with some of the sport’s top competitors and has come out victorious. He’s dropped bouts with top tier fighters such as Duane Ludwig and Dominick Cruz but in 2010 he defeated UFC bantamweight Jared Papazian with a first round triangle choke. He’s is fresh off a rear-naked submission victory over Del Hawkins and is eager to make his Badbeat debut.

Also featured on this fight card are undefeated and returning Badbeat combatants Chris “The Real Deal” Beal and Eric Winston. Bobby “The Kid” Sanchez and Brandon Anderson are returning fighters as well.

Gill Guardado and Tony Stewart will be making their professional debuts on the Badbeat proving grounds. Guardado, who is excited to fight in front of his home town, has set an impressive precedent racking up eight straight wins as an amateur and resident of the Xtreme Couture gym in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stewart has the credentials to become a household name as he has been training underneath legendary MMA brawler Wanderlei Silva at the Wand fight gym for the past three years.
