Bellator 58 Full Fight Card and Predictions
It’s here! Bellator 58, the one I’ve been waiting for. Eddie Alvarex vs. Chandler, Lombard vs. Prangley, Sandro vs. Dias and Brett Cooper vs. Jared Hess! All have the possibility of being explosive. Lombard is on a 24 fight win streak, he likes to win by T/KO and often does.Eddie Alvarez is looking to cement his status as a top 5 Lightweight, Marlon Sandro and Rafael Dias have the potential to steal the nights show and finally Brett Cooper (check out our interview with him here) is always exciting, comes to fight and never fails to impress. What more could you ask for on a fight card?
Feel free to give us your predictions in the comments section. My predictions are below in green as per usual. Enjoy.
- Lightweight Championship bout: Eddie Alvarez (c) vs. Michael Chandler
Eddie Alvarez is ths defending Lightweight Champ for Bellator, Eddie is on a 7 fight win streak with only 1 decision in that time. Chandler is 8-0 after winning the Lightweight Season Tournament with a win over Pitbull Freire. Chandler appears to have the superior wrestling, while Alvarez has grown into a complete fighter with a great submission game and stand up. I have to give the edge to the Champ, however I think Chandler will pressure Alvarez with his wrestling, looking to ‘grind’ out a decision. Despite the probability of Chandler’s wrestling being too much for Alvarez, I feel he will overcome int he later rounds with a Sub or T/KO win. Alvarez by Sub/T/KO.
- Catchweight (195lb) bout: Hector Lombard vs. Trevor Prangley
Who votes against Hector Lombard? Sure Prangley is game, however this is a catchweight. Which means Hector will be closer to his actual weight, giving him more power. Just what he needs right? Hector Lombard has gone to decision 4 times in 24 fights. That’s impressive, no matter how you look at it. Prangley has won 1 of his last 5 fights, by decision no less. I have to go with Hector Lombard by T/KO.
- Featherweight bout: Marlon Sandro vs. Rafael Dias
Sandro is an exciting fighter I enjoy watching. He’s coming off a brutal KO loss to Pat Curran. With a 19-3 recrod and serious KO power, Sandro has the potential to end any fight quickly. He came into Bellator with a ton of hype, sadly he didn’t deliver, not yet at least. Widely expected to win the Featherweigtht tournament, he fell short, despite his perceived failings, I never count Sandro out. Rafael Dias has won 3 of his last 8. This card seems to be a confidence bulder for a few fighters, but it’s MMA, anything can happen in the cage. Ask Kimbo Slice. I’m going with Sandro by T/KO.
- Women’s (115 lbs) bout: Jessica Aguilar vs. Lisa Ellis-Ward
Lisa Ward has a win over Jessica Aguilar. Both women fell short in the women’s 115 lb tournament, Jessica losing to Zoila Gurgel and Lisa Ward losing to Megumi Fujii. Both top competitors. This is a hard one to call. Jessica is on a 2 fight win streak, while Lisa Ward is coming off a loss and 14 month layoff. Ward has a solid submission game, giving her the edge in that department. Despite her layoff, I have to give the edge to Lisa Ward, with her submissions, and her previous win over Aguilar I’m going with Ward by submission.
Local Feature Fights
- Middleweight bout: Brett Cooper vs. Jared Hess
Jared Hess is 2-2 in his last four, while Brett Cooper is coming off a KO win. A victory he called in our exclusive interview no less. I have to go with Brett Cooper on this one, his stand up is what I feel will be the deciding factor. Brett Cooper by T/KO.

- Middleweight bout: Jonas Billstein vs. Reggie Pena
