Bellator 61 Full Fight Card and Predictions

Bellator 61 is finally here, I say, Finally because we have been waiting for them to finish the Heavyweight Tournament. In case you forgot, Thiago Santos kicked Eric Prindle in his special place while he was on his back, it was bizarrest the groin shot I’ve ever seen, also the most blatant. I think Thiago Santos should have been DQ’d. He wasn’t and the fight will go down tonight. I expect Eric Prindle to be just a bit more motivated this time around, hopefully Thiago Fully understand the rules this time as well, kicking a man in the ‘taint’ is not allowed under the Unified Rules Of MMA. Kicking a man in the ‘taint’ is just not allowed ever. Ever. We also have Maiquel Falcao on this card, you may remember him as the Brazilian wrecking machine who was cut from the UFC for his questionable past aggressions, all of which he’s since cleared up. I feel bad for Norman Paraisy, Maiquel mauls opponents, just mauls them. Bellator has yet to deliver for me, I’ve been happy with every card I’ve watched, I expect no different from this one.

As usual, my picks are in Green. Ranters, post your picks in the comments section.

Main Card

  • Season Five Heavyweight Tournament Final bout: United States Eric Prindle vs. Brazil Thiago Santos

I don’t know where to begin, Thiago Santos record (1o-1-1) is mostly from Vale Tudo fights, not really your normal MMA fights with rules and such, Erick Prindle (7-1-1) is a seasoned fighter, a seasoned Bellator fighter with heavy, heavy hands. His ground skills aren’t as well rounded at Thiago’s, yet I think he will come in lighter and faster this time around, and win by TKO/KO. Eric Prindle by TKO/KO.
  • Middleweight Quarterfinal bout: Brazil Maiquel Falcao vs. France Norman Paraisy

Maiquel Falcao is 28-4-1 with 23 winks by TKO/KO. He’s a beast who mauls his opponents. Normain Paraisy is 10-1-1 with a win over Paulo Filho. I believe Maiquel is a step in competition for Norman, his experience and heavy hands are gonna pose some new threats and I expect Maiquel to finish this one fast and make a statement to the rest of the MW’s. Maiquel Falcao by mauling TKO/KO.
  • Middleweight Quarterfinal bout: Brazil Vitor Vianna vs. United States Brian Rogers

Vitor Vianna lost his last Bellator fight to Alexander Schlemenko bydecision, Brian Rogers lost to Alexander by TKO. Both are looking to bounce back and make a statement in the MW division. I feel like Brian Rogers has the heavier hands, as most of his wins are by TKO/KO. When I say ‘most’ I mean all but 1. At 8-3, that’s a good ratio. Vitor is a hard man to put down, as he was able to take Alexander to decision, this could be The Fight of The Night. I’m going with Brian Rogers by TKO/KO.
  • Middleweight Quarterfinal bout: Russia Vyacheslav Vasilevsky vs. United States Victor O’Donnell

I’m gonna abbreviate this name, VV is a beast, he’s 15-1 riding a 14 fight winning streak. Victor is 11-3 coming off a TKO loss to Brian Rogers. Victor will be a real test for VV, as VV will be for Victor. This fight will be a good one, I’m sure of it. I think that who ever controls the cage from the opening round will take this fight. I’m gonna say Vyacheslav Vasilevsky by decision.
  • Middleweight Quarterfinal bout: Brazil Giva Santana vs. Brazil Bruno Santos

This is another contender for Fight of the Night. Giva Santana is known as ‘The Arm Collector’. He’s 17-1 with 15 submission victories, 12 by armbar! Bruno Santos is undefeated with 10 decision victories. He’s a scrapper from beginning to end. This fight will come down to gameplan and who sticks to thiers the best. Giva will try to take the fight to the ground and Bruno will try to keep it standing, whoever imposed their will is gonna be the winner. I think Giva Santana will impose his will, winning by submission in the 3rd round.

Preliminary Card (Spike.com)

  • Lightweight bout: United StatesQuaint Kempf vs. United StatesJosh Quayhagen

Quaint Kempf. A man named Quaint is like a Boy named Sue, he’s gonna be an a$$ Kicker!
  • Middleweight bout: United StatesTrey Houston vs. United StatesJeremiah Riggs

Trey Houston. That name sounds like it should have been a character in Hustle n Flow.
  • Welterweight bout: United StatesDerrick Krantz vs. United StatesEric Scallan

Derrick Krantz. I just picture Lenny Krantz fighting MMA, it makes me giggle.
  • Lightweight bout: United StatesDerek Campos vs. United StatesPatrick Cenoble

Patrick Cenoble. I just like saying Cenoble, come on, say it fast with me, now have a shot.
  • Bantamweight bout: United StatesJeremy Myers vs. United StatesJason Sampson

Jason Sampson. I had a dog named Samson, he was the best.
