Bellator 61 Recap/Results/Highlight Video
I gotta say it, this was the first Bellator event that underwhelmed me. It’s not Bellator’s fault, it was just a strange night.
Maiquel Falcao put on a bizarre fight with Normani Paraisy, that included him letting Norman up after knocking him down and almost out, followed by both fighters fighting after the 2nd round bell and the 3rd round bell. Maiquel had the fight finished, but he backed away, and motioned for Norman to get up. I can’t even give it justice in this article, you had to see it to understand. Vyacheslav Vasilevsky (who I’m calling Double V from now on) and Victor O’Donnell put on a good back and forth with Victor taking a pretty severe beating through the 3rd round. I give Victor tons of credit for his heart, but I think his corner should have thrown in the towel. Giva Santana and Bruno Santos put on a less than exciting show, by no fault of theirs other than them being too good on the ground, thus canceling each other out. There were a few exciting moments, as a hardcore fan it was a good close fight, but not what I’m sure most people were hoping for. Santos took the W in a fight I think could have easily gone either way. Brian Rogers did bring the excitement with a highlight reel KO of Vitor Vianna, an amazing KO. Sadly, Erick Prindle fell ill and we have to wait till this Friday to see the end of the HW Tournament. This Friday should bring us back to the usual exciting Bellator I’m used to.
