Chris Weidman making good moves
Chris Weidman is going about trying to line up the biggest fight of his career in the right way, aside from turning down fights with the likes of Vitor Belfort. Weidman recently talked about his struggles in trying to get the biggest fight of his career against Anderson Silva.
Anderson Silva isn’t havin any of it, he’s not interested in facing Weidman at all. The UFC wants to make the fight, but it can’t force Silva (just like they couldn’t force Jones to face Sonnen to keep UFC 151 alive) so they offered Weidman Vitor Belfort instead (amongst others apparently). It’s a ballsy move on Weidman’s part, it could very well backfire.
What we do like is how he’s apealled to Anderson Silva directly.

“I don’t have any deadlines, but I am young and I want to make the most of my career. I have a lot of respect for the guy, I think he is the greatest of all time and I look up to him. I think I am the biggest challenge to him and I think his camp knows that and I think he should challenge me.”
“Hey man, just give me a chance. Obviously I think I am going to beat you and it is a tough one for me to tell you to do. You had one fight when you got the chance, so just give me my opportunity, just give me the fight.”
Anderson Silva had 1 fight agains Chris Leben, sure it was a devastating win, but nobody knew who Silva was when he stepped up to demolish Rich Franklin, and Weidman just wants the same chance. We agree with him, give the kid a shot Anderson, pay it forward.
