DREAM: Japan GP Final Card Changes

Willamy Friere and Patrico Friere both have hand injuries? Patricky is fine though? I’m starting to wonder if there is actually only 1 Friere, and he just fights under 3 different names…okay, not really, but what a strange coincidence. In case you didn’t know,  “DREAM: Japan GP Final” takes place at Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo July 16th. It has a stellar lineup, minus Shooto LW Champ Willamy Friere. So far no news on if HDnet or another North American outlet will carry the fights at some future date, lets hope.

‘DREAM officials announced that Freire suffered a hand injury with potentially torn ligaments.’

What they didn’t mention is they now have definitive proof of the Brazillian experiment better known as ‘The boys from Brazil’. I know, I’ve taken this too far, there are no clones….if there were, the Pitbull brothers would be my choice for cloning.

Drew Fickett has stepped in to replace the injured Willamy, you may remember Drew from his stint in the UFC. His most recent fight was a loss to Brian Cobb in a June MFC event, breaking a 5 fight win streak. The Japan GP Final will mark his first appearance in the promotion.
“DREAM: Japan GP Final” card:

  • Champ Gegard Mousasi vs. Hiroshi Izumi (for light-heavyweight title)
  • Champ Hiroyuki Takaya vs. Kazuyuki Miyata (for featherweight title)
  • Champ Marius Zaromskis vs. Hayato Sakurai (welterweight non-title fight)
  • Masakazu Imanari vs. Hideo Tokoro (Japan bantamweight-tourney finale)
  • Keisuke Fujiwara vs. Kenji Osawa (Japan bantamweight-tourney third-place fight)
  • Todd Duffee vs. Nick Gaston
  • Tatsuya Mizuno vs. Trevor Prangley
  • Drew Fickett (replaces Shooto LW champion Willamy Freire) vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri
  • Bruno Carvalho vs. Eiji Mitsuoka

I’m very excited for this bout, you should be too!

That’s it!
