For Roy Nelson, the more things change…

I’ll be honest: I love watching Roy Nelson fight. Hell, I love watching Roy Nelson tour a foreign country. I would be very happy watching Roy Nelson climb the ladder in the UFC and end up a champion. I’m not sure it will happen at heavyweight, though. It could happen at 205… but I’m not waiting for Roy to make that cut.

Meanwhile, Roy Nelson next fights at UFC 146 next month. He was slated to fight former Strikeforce fighter Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva: a taller fighter, with good striking but a really strong ground game, who uses his size (like Nelson does against smaller opponents) to control and beat his opponent.

Now that Overeem is off of the card, Mir moves up to challenge Dos Santos, and “Bigfoot” has been plucked to face Velasquez.

Roy Nelson will now face Gabriel Gonzaga, a taller fighter, with good striking but a really strong ground game, who uses his size (like Nelson does against smaller opponents) to control and beat his opponent. Sound familiar?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Nelson doesn’t change a thing in his camp…
