Joker is back!
Remember Michael ‘Joker’ Guymon? He’s an ex UFC fighter…ring any bells? If it doesn’t, then you need to YouTube him. Joker (as he’s known by almost everyone) is a great guy, a fighter who was forced to retire due to personal issues that he felt didn’t allow him to fight at his true potential. It seems as if those issues are resolved and Joker is coming out of retirement to fight for BAMMA USA at BadBeat 5 at…155lbs. You should be surprised, I am. Hell, Joker’s surprised (read his twitter and you’ll see the hell he’s going through cutting to 155) as is the MMA community. Read below and have your mind blown.
From World of MMA
Former UFC welterweight Mike “Joker” Guymon (12-5-1) will come out of retirement and make his lightweight debut for BAMMA USA in March.
Guymon will be making his return to the cage at Badbeat 5 in the main event on March 16, 2012 at the Commerce Casino. His opponent has yet to be announced.
The information comes from BAMMA USA promoter Brett Roberts via a telephone conversation earlier today. “The deal we have with Joker is for three fights and he is going to be dropping down to the lightweight division for our March card, ” said Roberts. “I am honored to have him fighting of our promotion.”
Joker’s back for 3 fights, is this a backdoor run at another UFC stint, or is this a true competitor ending his career on his terms? At this time I don’t know, but we do plan on getting an interview soon, we may just get some answers. Either way, make sure you show up and see Joker put on a show at BadBeat 5!
