Lesnar vs. Overeem. For Real This Time.

In what will undoubtedly be given some excessively hyperbolic name like “Clash of the Titans” or “Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem”, Alistair Overeem has officially signed with the UFC and agreed to a bout with Brock Lesnar.

Seriously.

As we’ve speculated several times before (and, frankly wished like crazy for it to happen), and coming off of rumors about Lesnar that he was about to announce his retirement due to health complications, this announcement today is one welcomed by the entire MMA community.

This is gonna be HUGE! Like Titanic Huge. Like New Year’s Eve Huge.

Well, night before New Year’s Eve Huge, anyway. The fight will take place Friday, December 30th in Las Vegas at UFC 141. It’ll be a rare Friday night event for the UFC, but given the holiday, that shouldn’t affect sales or Pay-per-view buys. It would be surprising if this even didn’t break all kinds of PPV UFC sales records.

No undercard details have been released as of this writing, but as soon as they become available, MMA Rants Today will post them for you.
