Monday Hangover: Paul Daley

Paul Daley had it all figured out. Put in a few minutes of fighting at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey, wrap up Kazuo Misaki quickly and get on to fighting recent-Strikeforce signee Nate Marquardt for the title he couldn’t wrest from Nick Diaz.

…and he would’ve gotten away with it too, if it hadn’t been for that meddling Misaki!

Instead, Misaki broke his will with a couple of strikes early and Daley looked stunned throughout, never being able to put it all together to beat the 35 year old.

Which is not meant to take anything away from Misaki, who looked 25 out there. He was quick, accurate and unpredictable and really put a beating on Daley. Despite Daley’s expressions of surprise when the decision was announced, there was really no question that Misaki won that fight.

After performing so poorly, Daley is left with few options. He’s proven to be a difficult personality to deal with and has missed weight enough that this loss might be it. He’s a talented striker, but is that enough for Strikeforce to keep him? After all, they just signed Nate Marquardt…

All of which gives Paul Daley this week’s Monday Hangover.
