Returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center January 25-26
20 Free Competitions and Hundreds of Exhibitors Offer a Non-Stop Start to the New Year!
(Los Angeles, Calif…December 22, 2013) – The West Coast’s largest and best-known fitness event, Bodybuilding.com TheFitExpo Southern California, presented by Body Fortress and Subway Restaurants, returns for the 11th year, Saturday and Sunday, January 25 and 26, 2014 to the Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 South Figueroa Street, South Halls G, H and J.
This dynamic event will bring together over 37,000 fitness enthusiasts and fans from Southern California and around the world. Attendees will come face-to-face with top-tier fitness celebrities, executives and industry veterans on a dynamic, fast-paced exhibition floor. Over 400 companies will be on hand to display, offer show discounts and give away complimentary samples.

Fitness greats appearing this year include: Jillian Michaels (celebrity fitness expert, and wellness coach on “The Biggest Loser”) Phil Heath (3 X and current Mr. Olympia Champion); Jay Cutler (4x Mr. Olympia Champion); Brian Shaw (World’s Strongest Man); Grandmaster Walter Goode (Black Belt 10th Degree in Ninjitsu), Lou Ferrigno (actor “The Incredible Hulk”, fitness trainer and retired pro bodybuilder) and more.
Several new attractions have been added for 2014 including:
Extreme Tricking Challenge – California’s Team LoopKicks, the world famous martial arts tricking team, will host this event, performing their aesthetic blend of kicks, flips, twists and intricate groundwork. There is a tricking Battle both days as well as free workshops and contests. They’ll even teach you “how to” at their training day camp. (Register online in advance for tricking day camp.)
Parkour/FreeRunning – Hosted by San Fernando Valley’s Tempest Freerunning Academy, Parkour is an ancient discipline, teaching participants how to flow through their environment by vaulting, rolling, running, climbing and jumping. See why this sport is so popular with 9-13 year-olds for developing self-esteem and fitness. Bring your family and try it out! (Register online in advance.)
2014 MET-Rx Odd Haugen Strength Classic All American MAS Wrestling Championship Tournament – Featured on Sunday, MAS wrestling (like a Man o’ Man Deadlift/Tug-O-War) is an ancient sport from Yakutia, the far northern region of the Russian Republic of Sakha. The best two out of three matches will win the battle. This competition is open to all male and female strength athletes and is contested in four weight divisions for both men and two for women. On Saturday, attendees can test their MAS strength by stopping at Odd Haugen’s area on the floor and tryout this sport. Friendly contests will take place against friends or family members of all ages, as a professional MAS athlete provide tips and monitor each bout. There will be a special gift for all who try and a grand prize for the winners of the “King and Queen of the Hill” challenge.
Fitness Career Center will offer a networking job fair for those seeking new contacts and opportunities in the fitness field as well as a recruitment tool for companies who are looking for new talent. Seminars offered by leading fitness professionals will provide secrets for fitness career success. Popular events returning to the Expo will include:
TheFitExpo Jump Rope Championship – Hosted by Palpitating Panthers, this hot competition will bring together a highly-trained group of jumpers who will compete and perform using intricate footwork, synchronization, speed, and power moves in individual rope, pairs, double Dutch, Chinese wheel and group routines. CA Affiliate Showcase (Formerly Battle of the Boxes) – The event will bring gyms together from all over the United States to challenge themselves and see which “Box” will win. (Register in advance online.)
Battle of the BarÔ III: Raising the Bar – This competitive sports program has been created by Athletes for Athletes to elevate Calisthenics or street workout movements into a professional series of competitions in order to bring it to the forefront of competitive sports programs.
Expo attendees will also cheer on competitors participating in returning contests including The Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Nationals, IRON MAN Magazine Naturally Bodybuilding, Physique, Figure & Bikini Championships presented by Optimum Nutrition, MET-Rx Odd Haugen Strength Challenge, American Record Makers Olympic Weightlifting Competition, The Body Fortress USPLA American Cup Powerlifting Championships, and Bodybuilding.com’s BodySpace™ Spokesmodel Search.
Come dressed to work out as the Evolution Fitness Conference (EFC) offers free express workouts, demos and fitness challenges daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Evolution Fitness Stage. The area’s top fitness professionals will offer sample sessions in Jillian Michaels BODYSHRED, Zumba, R.I.P.P.E.D, PILOXING BARRE, XPert Pole Fitness, Pound, Beachbody INSANITY and P90x programs, Cardio Core, Groov3, P Phunk and more.
Complete classes and CEU workshop sessions will also be offered throughout the weekend upstairs for both the fitness enthusiasts and the pros. For the first time at TheFitExpo’s Evolution Fitness Conference, Jillian Michaels will lead a workout class, her Jillian Michaels BODYSHRED (Separate fee to participate in Jillian Michaels and CEU sessions). Also upstairs on Saturday will be the Tribute to Legends of Funk, Pop & Hip Hop: Live DJ Dance Concert where top dancers and EFC/TheFitExpo attendees join together to raise funds for the Challenged Athletes Foundation of America.
In the MMA Pavilion, hosted by Bamma USA, attendees will find top athletes, pro training sessions, ring girl contests and live remotes as well as many vendors with the latest gear on the exhibit floor. Attendees can meet MMA legend Tito Ortiz and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, co-star of the hit film The “A” Team. Also, Chad George will be demonstrating what a real MMA practice looks like during the MMA Pro Practice sessions. Show sponsor Body Fortress will host MMA fighter Jamie Varner in their booth and Fabricio Werdum will be available for autographs at MHP booth.
Will your gym workouts pay off? Returning this year will be SoCal’s Best 4 Ca$h! offering prize money and bragging rights to the most in shape attendees at the Expo. The guys can show off the best abs or biceps and the girls can compete for the best legs or abs. Also, attendees can test their muscles at the MAXREPS 4 CASH ATTENDEE CONTESTS. Open to all male attendees, these four contests — pull ups, push ups, dips and curl a 65 lb. barbell the most times – boast a total purse of $4,000 cash.
The Healthy Living Pavilion will feature a variety of seminars with leading experts discussing specific dietary programs including macrobiotic, vegetarian, vegan, Ayurveda and organic and raw diets. Live cooking presentations will serve up tips on how to shop for and cook healthy, quick and easy meals. Bring your appetite as innovative products will be available to sample and purchase including Nut Burgers, Daiya Vegan Cheese, IPS Egg White Chips, Halo Top Creamery’s Protein-Rich Ice Cream, Perky Jerky, and much more.
Adult admission tickets are $20 per day or $30 for the full weekend. Children 12 years and under are $10 per day and children under 6 are free.
