Say it aint so Pitbull!
Patricio “Pitbull” Freire vs. Joe Warren for the Bellator LW belt is postponed! I know, you are as disappointed as I am. We now have to wait till sometime in November or December. Freire’s doctors have told him it will take approximately 4 months till he can fight. Pitbull is one of my favorite Bellator fighters, he had a dominating run in last years tournament culminating in his loss to Joe Warren, the current LW champ. His run this year was just as dynamic, putting him once again in Joe Warren’s cross hairs. I felt Pitbull had a better chance this time around at beating Warren, however, this layoff due to injury leads me to believe Warren will have the edge if and when they do meet.
From Pirbull’s Twitter:
“It’s true. I won’t be able to fight Warren this month,” he wrote. “Saturday I heard it will take me four months to be able to fight again.”“I have fractures on my thumb of the left hand, and ligament injuries, that’s why it may take so long for me to get back in the cage,” “I will spend six weeks with my hand immobilized, and than at least one month of physical therapy, depending on my progression. And then I will be able to get back to training, lightly at first, but the doctor said I could be able to fight by the end of November.
“I will try my hardest to get back in there as soon as possible. Tell Joe I’m coming for him by the end of the year!”
There is an upside for Joe Warren; less stress concerning his inclusion in the Bantam Weight tournament. A quest for gold in two weight divisions, a Bellator first. As much as I’m rooting for Warren to win the BW tournament, I’m looking forward to his LW title defense more.
Get better fast Pitbull. Bellator highlight reels just won’t be the same without you.
