StrikeForce: Tate vs. Rousey (hottie vs hottie) Full Fight Card and Predictions

Miesha Tate May be the only Female on Team Alpha Male. Ronda Rousey may be the only female fighter with 4 fights to be the favored opponent against the champ. Pretty weird right? Well, that’s what makes this such an interesting matchup, it’s too late if you think Ronda doesn’t deserve this shot, it’s happening.  It’s happening, and I for one feel it’s gonna be a pretty good fight. The card also holds some other interesting matchups, Daley vs. Misaki is one as is Jacare vs. Marunde, the Scott Smith fight, and Sarah Kaufman (the fighter everyone believes deserved a title shot before Ronda Rousey) vs. Alexis Davis which could set up the next title fight. Caros Fedor/Pat Healy, Ryan Couture/Conor Heun and Roger Bowling/Brandon Saling all look promising on paper. I’d say this could end up being a very very good card.

It’s that time again, prediction time. My predictions are in green, as always, post your predictions in the comments section and enjoy.

Main card (Showtime)

  • Women’s Bantamweight Championship bout: United States Miesha Tate (c) vs. United States Ronda Rousey

Miesha Tate is 12-2 with her last loss to Sarah Kaufman in 2009, Ronda Rousey is 4-0 with a 3- amateur record. Her las victory over Julia Budd ended with an armbar (as have her 3 previous wins as a pro and all of her amateur wins), a brutal armbar leaving Julia broken. Miesha beat a very tough Marloes Coenen for the belt. A fight she earned by competing in the women’s WW tournament. The trash talk has been epic for this bout, the fans have all gotten involved, and there is a clear line between fans and non fans of both fighters. I want to pick Ronda Rousey because she has been so dominant in her short career, but I know Miesha has the experience which I feel gives her the edge. It’s a tough call, I’m gonna go with Miesh Tate by decision, she is the underdog after all.
  • Lightweight bout: United States K.J. Noons vs. United States Josh Thomson

KJ Noons has the prettiest hair in MMA, seriously, look at it, be one with it…see. Josh Thomson is a well rounded fighter with losses to Kawajiri and Gilbert Melendez. He beat JZ and Pat Healy along with Gilbert in their first bout. Josh is as good as they come at LW. KJ has a suspect win over Nick Diaz and that hair. He is a good boxer, having competed professionally, but I don’t think that will be enough to take the win from Thomson. I’m going with Thomson by decision.
  • Welterweight bout: England Paul Daley vs. Japan Kazuo Misaki

We all know about Paul Daley, he sucker punched Kos, got banned from the UFC and misses weight with regularity. He’s also got 1 punch KO power, serious Ko power. Misaki is a Pride/Dream/WVR/Deep veteran with a 24-11-2(1) record. He has losses to Jorge Santiago and Melvin Manhoef, both strong fighters with great KO power. I’m gonna go with Misaki only because I dislike Paul Daley and what he brings to MMA. So Kazuo Misaki by TKO/KO (I’m being optimistic here).
  • Middleweight bout: Brazil Ronaldo Souza vs. United States Bristol Marunde

Jacare is one of my favorites on the SF roster. His war with Luke Rockhold was also epic. He has notable wins over strong competiton. Bristol Marunde recently fought in SCC (where he is the MW Champ) defeating Jay Silva in a very tough fight. This will be his first fight in on the bigger stage, I think that pressure gives Jacare the edge.My boy MMABadass is going with Bristol because of his great fight wit hJay Silva, I however have to go with Jacare. Jacare Souza by decision.
  • Middleweight bout: United States Scott Smith vs. United States Lumumba Sayers

Scott Smith has heavy hands but he’s riding a 3 fight losing streak, Lumumba Sayers has good wrestling and solid stand up, just not as solid as Scott’s. For that reason, I’m going with Scott Smith by TKO/KO.
