UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida Full Fight Card & Predictions
UFC on FX is here again. Tomorrow is UFC 147 and later tonight is XFC and Bellator, it’s gonna be a great MMA Weekend. I’ll get to it fast as the Facebook Prelims are about to start. As usual my pics are in Green. Post your predictions in the Comments section. Tomorrow we may do a contest, so get ready.
Lightweight Gray Maynard vs Clay Guida
Gray Maynard is a beast, coming off of a KO loss to Frankie Edgar he’s looking to rebound with a win over Clay Guida. Clay is coming off a loss to CUrrent Champ Benson Henderson. We don’t know how the KO affected Gray yet, but we know that Clay is always game, ready to outwork his opponent from bell to bell. This fight favors Guida due to his always impressive cardio/workrate. Gray has KO power and a solid chin (or had one) an he’s fought the best the division has to offer twice, despite his previous wins, the loss to Edgar concerns me which is why I’m going with Clay Guida by decision.
Lightweight Sam Stout vs Spencer Fisher
Spencer Fisher and Sam Stout have 2 fights with 1 win each and both fights being FOTN and in some circles Fight of the Year contestants each year. Fisher is expected to retire after this fight, which bums me out. He wants to spend more time with his family and I don’t blame the man, good for him. Sam Stout is a brawler who will deliver another FOTN bout with his foe. These fighters are pretty even as evidenced by their past bouts, which leaves this one up in the air. I believe a’la Chris Lytle, Fisher will go out on a win so I’m going with Spencer Fisher by decision.
Welterweight Brian Ebersole vs TJ Waldburger
Brian Ebersole is a strong competitor with brilliant chest hair. TJ Waldburger is a submission specialist who told us he would win by submission. Based upon that alone, we are going with TJ WaldBurger by submission.
Featherweight Ross Pearson vs Cub Swanson
Ross Pearson is coming off a big win and FOTN performance. He did get into a little trouble after, but I don’t think that will make a difference in his performance or his training. Cub Swanson is also coming off a big win, this could be an important fight for both fighters, as the last person to beat Cub is fighting Hatsu Hioki was offered a title shot against Aldo recently. I’m a Cub Swanson fan, and Ross’s last fight made me a Pearson fan, it’s hard to pick against either, but I feel Pearson has the momentum. Cub can end this fight at any moment with a punch so don’t blink. I’m going with Ross Pearson by decision.
Preliminary Card (Fuel TV)
Featherweight Hatsu Hioki vs Ricardo Lamas
Hatsu Hioki is a beast. He’s one of the few JMMA fighters who I think will break the mold and step up. He was offered a title shot against Also and declined, citing his need to win a few more fights before he stepped up to Ald’s level. It was a good move, even if it resulted on him being on the under card. Ricardo Lamas is coming off of a sub win over Cub Swanson last November. He’s a strong fighter with KO power and good subs. This gonna be a real test for Hioki, who has not done well in the US but has potential, as seen in his UFC Japan fight. IT’s his potential I’m expecting to see tonight, that’s why I’m going with Hatsu Hioki by TKO/KO.
