UFC Sweden Recap/Results/Bonuses/Meds

UFC Sweden delivered, right? Well, Big G didn’t KO Silva, but Siyar The Killer did a number onPaulo Thiago! What more could Sweden ask for? Those greedy bastards…The prelims delivered good back and forth action as well as 4 submissions, 2 decisions and 4 submissions, not a bad start. The main card came on strong, James Head and Papy Abedi gave it a great intro with their back and forth, both guys being rocked and finally Head coming back to finish Papy by RNC. Brad Pickett proved he’s a force at Bantamweight, and page put up a competitive fight. John Maguire was poetry in motion! Really, it was beautiful ot watch him trasistion to the wining armbar. His opponent, DaMarques Johnson, is a solid fighter with a great ground game, which made John’s debut all the more impressive. I’m looking forward to seeing what Maguire does in his next fight. Siver/Nunes was a fun fight, I felt Nunes let it slip away from him by not engaging more, I hated to see him lose. Good showing for Siver, this might be a weight he is suited for. Brian Stann put an absolute beating on Alessio Sakara, his GnP is unparalleled, it’s Matt Hughes esque and quite satisfying. Alexander Gustafsson showed he’s got great skills, once again. Thiago Silva did’t have an answer for the footwork, reach advantage, power, hell for anything Big G brought to the Octagon™ this night. I feel Big G was a bit overwhelmed by the hometown crowd and the pressure to succeed had him playing a little bit and kept him from going for the kill. I could be wrong, and Silva was just to hard to KO, but I doubt it. Brad Pickett picked up FOTN, Siyar KOTN, and of course John Maguire SOTN. If you didn’t watch the broadcast, look for the highlights, Siyar’s KO of Thiago was absolutely mesmerizing, and John Maguire’s submission was as I stated before ‘poetry in motion’. This weekend is UFC 145 Jones vs. Evans, how excited are you for it? I’m a ball of fire right now. Until then, cheers.
