War Machine Jail Blog Season 2 Episode 25
War Machine (AKA Jon Koppenhaver) is back in jail for a 3 year old assault charge and just like his stint last year, he’s blogging from jail. We will be posting War Machine’s blogs with commentary in green. We wish him the best and poke fun with only good intentions.
“Too considerate, too yielding is your soil. But that a tree become great, it must strike hard roots around hard rocks.” -Nietzsche -Nietzshe is the sh1t!
That is SO true! I’ve always found people who’ve led very easy and pampered lives to be weak and not trustworthy. Prolly why celebrities kids always end up all jacked up. I had a g/f once, who was rich and had the perfect family, who damn near became suicidal when she found out her mom banged some dude, and that her parents may get divorced. Had to take a semester off of school, see a shrink, the works. 19 years old and can’t handle her parents’ divorce? God forbid something really bad ever happened. A lil’ hardship is good for the spirit – life is tough and you need practice. The same can be said of fighters and their early careers. Winning your first few fights too easily is the worst thing that can happen. I know because I experienced it! It creates false expectations in future fights and the illusion of invincibility. Perfect examples of victims to this phenomenon are Brandon Vera and Shane Carwin. Brandon’s 1st loss completely ruined him, he’s never been the same since. He used to be aggressive and confident, now all he does is back pedal and try to survive. He’s never been able to get over the fact that he isn’t invincible. Then there’s Carwin, who became so terrified that a man can take his punches and survive, that he completely shut down and quit vs. Lesnar, even though he was DOMINATING. This is also why the little guys show so much more heart in fights as compared to heavyweights. Little guys get their asses kicked in practice all the time by their larger teammates, so they never panic in fights when they’re losing. Heavyweights on the other hand, can often half-ass it in practice and rarely find themselves on the bottom of their smaller teammates. THAT is why they so often bitch out in fights; it’s the unfamiliarity with being dominated. All this is why I always hope that my teammates and students have difficult 1st fights. Ideally, I’d want them to get beat on every round, only to pull of a last minute victory. That is the best fight you can ask for, easy fights are useless. Go into a fight with any thoughts of an easy win and only BAD can come of it. Let that be a lesson to all new guys: pray for tough fights that will leave your roots strong! Especially my S and C coach @xveganericx who has his debut coming up. I hope you have a nasty, tough fight and a victory that you can be proud of – good luck! I heard Karl Amoussou won the @BellatorMMA tournament, congrats to him, but that should be my $100K!!! –Sound advice from WM today. That is all.
I will get back up.
